The roughly estimated release date of October 14, 2008 for jTips 2.1 has come and gone. However a great deal of work has been done and we are nearing the end of final testing. The entire application has been carefully scrutinized. We have gone to great lengths to ensure jTips 2.1 is better than ever!

We've also added a stack of brand new features! And, best of all, you can easily upgrade to jTips 2.1, from jTips 2.0, with OneClick!

What's Changed

Here's a sneak preview of just some of the new features and improvements that have made it to jTips 2.1.

Revamped Round Manager

No longer will you need to create a round by setting up dates and times, and then having to add a limited number of games to that round. With the revamped Round Manager, you can do it all in one hit!

Simple click to create a New Round, select your season and setup the round start and end dates as normal. Then, clicking the 'Add Game' button will add a new game setup entry to the set of games for the new round.

Additionally, we've added a brand new Game Times feature to the mix. This allows you to set the date and time each game is due to start. Game Times do not impact the way the competition is run, or the cut-off time for submitting tips, but can be handy to have displayed on the main Tips Panel.

Better Joomla! 1.5 Integration

You can now create your own jTips menu items that will link the user directly to any part of the jTips system. This means you can completely remove the original jTips menu bar and replace it with standard Joomla! menus. Joomla! 1.0 will still require the jTips menu bar to be displayed for best results.

Front-End Competition Manager

Tired of adding fixtures and results? With jTips 2.1 you can nominate any registered user of your website as 'Scorers' to maintain the fixtures and results for any competition. You can even setup different 'Scorers' for different competitions!

Better Security

jTips 2.1 utilises the build in security features of Joomla! to prevent unauthorized activity. This improvement is seemless to the end user, but ensures that your jTips data is safe.

When You Can Expect It

We are working hard to deliver jTips 2.1 as soon as we possibly can. At the time of writing this we are preparing to thouroughly test the system on various web browsers. Again, as a rough estimate, jTips 2.1 should be available for OneClick Upgrade on (or around) the 28th of October, 2008.
