jTips Version Shake-Up E-mail

You may have read back in June we posted information about a version of jTips that was under intense development. This version was codenamed OneUp. OneUp has been on the back-burner for the last few weeks as we have poured more time into the development of jTips 2.0. As a result, a total of 86 bug fixes and features have been added to jTips 2.0 since June!

We have strived to deliver an update as quickly as possible when issues were found and resolved so that there was minimal impact to users.

The time has now come to take a (small) leap forward. We are mid-way through developing jTips 2.1. This version of jTips promises to be the biggest and best yet!

Here are some of the cool new features that will be available in jTips 2.1:

  • Cleaner Interface

Both the User and Administrator interfaces are much tidier and better conform to web standards.
  • Module-Based Layout

With the continual development and release of new Dashlets, you will be able to customise the User Dashboard to any extent. Special jTips 2.1 Dashlets will be available which can be installed like any other Joomla! module. You can display these special Dashlets on the jTips Dashboard! jTips 2.1 will ship with three of these modules for free!
  • Extensibility

If you need jTips 2.1 to have a certain look and feel, we can do it! jTips 2.0 does not support modifications since any changes would be lost when upgrading. However, with jTips 2.1, we can customise the look and feel of any part of the User interface, plus, the changes are upgrade-safe!

Essentially, the jTips 2.1 "user experience" will be very similar to jTips 2.0. A lot of the changes and enhancements in jTips 2.1 are behind the scenes, making the software faster and more stable. We are progressing very rapidly with the development of jTips 2.1 and at this stage we expect to have it ready for public release by approximately October 14, 2008.

There's no need to wait. Get jTips 2.0 today and get started. Setup your competition(s) and starting getting people involved. The sooner you get jTips, the sooner your website traffic will grow! The upgrade to jTips 2.1 will be seamless since the upgrade will be available via OneClick.

What about OneUp? It is definitely still on the radar, but has been delayed. We don't have a time frame for OneUp at this stage, but you can be sure it will definitely pack a punch when it is available.
