A new update is now available! This latest version, 2.0.12 resolves a number of issues relating to Internet Exporer compatibility; PayPal integration and Joomla! 1.5 compatibility, as well as intruducing a couple of brand new features! To take advantage of the benefits and features available in version 2.0.12, use the OneClick Upgrade to upgrade! Simple.
So, exactly what has changed in this updated?
It's a bit more shiny
When using the Administrator area of jTips in Internet Explorer, you may have noticed that all the lists were shifted across to the right a touch. Well, this no longer happens! The layout now looks exaclty the same in all popular web browsers. While this is not a critical issues, but aesthetics mean a lot on the web.
PayPal Performance
The PayPal integration had been causing a few problems. If you had tried to enable PayPal, you may have noticed that what was displayed was meaningless symbols and letters. Not anymore! PayPal integration is now back up and running. There are a couple of key steps to setting up PayPal integration, so be sure to check out the PayPal Integration Guide for full details.
The Battle of FTP and Apache
The release of Joomla! 1.5 introduced a feature known as the FTP Layer. With this enabled, your Joomla! system would act as though you were adding and manipulating files via FTP. As a result, any file or folder that had been added by FTP could not be edited by the 'web' user (this is normally Apache or IIS). The OneClick Upgrade feature of jTips previously relied on the ability of this 'web' user to edit some of these files and folders. So with the FTP Layer enabled, any attempt to use the OneClick Upgrade feature qould result in a 'Update Failed' message. This update to jTips resolves this issue as well as resolving any issues surrounding uploading season and team images in Joomla! 1.5 with the FTP Layer enabled.
Get me outta this!
Previously, when a user unsubscribed from a season/competition, the Competition Ladder would show an empty row where the user 'should have been'. This updated completely removes the user and all their historical information when they unsubscribe from a particular season/competiton.
More options to play with
We have introduced three brand new features in this update. Firstly, you can now disable and hide the main jTips navigation bar. That's the part that links you to the Dashbaord; the Competition and Team Ladders; and the Tips Panel. You can now also disable and hide the season/competition selection list. You would use these options if you wanted to use Joomla!'s built in menu manager to create links to each of the aforementioned areas, or prevent access to some areas altogether!
We have also provided the option to send an email confirmation when a user submits their tips. With this option enabled and email is sent to the user with a list of each team they selected and their chosen margin and/or score.
