New jTips Features Released E-mail

Today we have released the new update to jTips, version 2.1.8. While this version is a must for existing customers as it resolves a number of key issues, it also brings new features and integration functionality.

We have extended the JomSocial integration to support the Activity Stream. So, when a round is process and the scores for each user are updated, jTips will add a line like "Joe scored 6 points in round 8 of the NRL 2009 competition", and, for the user(s) that wins the round, "Joe won round 8 of the NRL 2009 competition". jTips will even add to the JomSocial Activity Stream when a user is added to the competition - "Joe has joined the NRL 2009 competition".

We have also created a brand new plugin that enables jTips to automatically add points to the AlphaUserPoints component system. This will then allow the users of your website to 'spend' the points they've won with jTips.

What is AlphaUserPoints?

AlphaUserPoints is a referral user points system. It's a component that can distribute or assign points to registered users according to some of its actions and activity on your website. AlphaUserPoints acts as an incentive promoting participation of users. Lowest Score Allocation

Enter -1 for 'User No Tips Points' when setting up a season and when you process a round, users that forget to submit their tips will be given the same score as the user that did submit their tips, but scored the lowest. This will keep these 'forgetful' users in the game... but only just.

Try jTips Today

The jTips Demo Site is now available for you to check out the intricacies of the jTips system. The Demo Site is loosley based on the Australian NRL competition. However, the demo data is completely refreshed and randomized every 12 hours! Not everything can be randomized however, so the Comments and BadWords features have been disabled. You can log in to the Demo Site in both the front end and administration areas to really get a feel for how the system works.
