Welcome to the new look jTips website. Let's recap the events that led to the website having to 'start over'....
On the 31st of May, 2008, a data center owned by The Planet experienced a major disruption when... "a transformer in [their] H1 data center in Houston caught fire, thus requiring [them] to take down all generators as instructed by the fire department.". So, no access to any servers in that data center. It turned out that jTips.com.au lived somewhere in there.
We expected this disruption to only last as long as the fire department was asserting their authority. We were wrong...
Some days later we were still experiencing complete website failure when trying to connect to jTips.com.au. At this point, jTips.com.au was hosting in the H1 data center by a reseller of The Planet. This reseller was MD Web Hosting. So after these additional days had lapsed, we got in touch with MD and asked them where the data for the website was since the tech guys for The Planet had successfully "determined that no servers in the data center have been damaged". The reply we received was bleak. Apparently, MD had no backup of anyone's data from a particular server of theirs and somehow, this server had 'vanished', or 'failed', or... the story is never the same. Nonetheless, we were unable to secure a recent backup of the jTips.com.au website.
So, we have now moved to a new hosting company and so far everything seems peachy! Now we need to rebuild all the website content from scratch. However, this should actually mean a better, more complete, and extensive website as we build on our ideas and knowledge from the first website.
