In order to seemlessly install and use jTips 2.1, we recommend the following minimum system requirements. Note that the requirements are not indicative of system hardware specifications, but relate to additional system software.

• Joomla! 1.0.12+ or Joomla! 1.5.x

  Joomla! is an Open Source (CMS) which allows you to get your website up and running in no time! jTips 2.1 is software that plugs into the Joomla! system.

• Apache 2.2+ (or similar)

  Apache is software that will present web pages on your screen. If you already have Joomla! installed and working than you have Apache, or other compatible software. Other similar software could be Microsoft IIS.

• PHP 5.2+

  PHP (Pre Hypertext Processor) is an additional piece of software which allows certain types of web pages to be interpreted and displayed on your screen correctly. As of jTips 2.1, PHP5.2+ is required. If you already have Joomla! installed, then you have PHP. You can find out details about your server platform and PHP version information from withing Joomla! from the Help >> System Info section in the Administrator area.

  • cURL

    cURL is a loadable extension for PHP which allows jTips 2.1 to make requests of other web pages in the background. This is necessary for a number of reasons, one of which being the validation of license key informations and addtionally, future versions of jTips may support the automated update of results!

  • GD2

    GD is another PHP extension which handles the manipulation of images. jTips 2.1 uses GD to resize images that are uploaded.

• MySQL 5+

  MySQL is a storage system that stores information in a database. jTips (and Joomla!) store information in a MySQL database for retrieval and further calculations. We recommend the newer MySQL 5 where possible for complete compatibility.

In Joomla! 1.0.x

1. Extract the jTips_Check_Module_Unzip_First.zip file to your computer
2. Log in to the administrator area of your Joomla! website
   
3. Go to Installers > Modules
4. Click browse and locate the jTips Check Module (1.0).zip file.
5. Click the Upload File & Install button.
6. Now you need tp publish the module. Go to Modules > Site Modules
7. Find the jTips 2.1 System Check module in the list and click on it
8. Set up the module as you wish
   1. Select the module position to display the module in
   2. Select the access level for the module
   3. Select the page(s) to show the module
   4. Make sure the module is published
9. Click Save.
10. Now look the your website and check the module position for the jTips 2.1 System Check module.
11. If you see all green ticks, then your system is compatible.

In Joomla! 1.5.x

1. Extract the jTips_Check_Module_Unzip_First.zip file to your computer
2. Log in to the administrator area of your Joomla! website
3. Go to Extensions > Install/Uninstall
4. Click browse and locate the jTips Check Module (1.5).zip file
5. Click the Upload File & Install button
6. Go to Extensions > Module Manage
7. Locate the jTips 2.1 System Check module in the list and click on it
8. Set up the module as you wish
   1. Select the module position to display the module in
   2. Select the access level for the module
      
   3. Select the page(s) to show the module
   4. Make sure the module is published
9. Click Save.
10. Now look the your website and check the module position for the jTips 2.1 System Check module.
11. If you see all green ticks, then your system is compatible.
